How it all began
Pacific Grace MB Church, formerly known as Pacific Grace Mission Chapel, was at 1587 Frances St., Vancouver BC. It was established with the help of the MB Board of Church Extension. During its early days, it functioned as an English-speaking ministry, welcoming and including ethnic Chinese. In 2009, moved to 2855 E. 1st Ave. Vancouver BC as the church was growing.
The first fellowship was established in 1963, and the first Sunday worship was held in March 1964. As the number of participating Chinese continued to grow, the church extended its evangelistic efforts to the Chinese community. Because of its growing size, the Chinese Congregation was formally established and separated from the English Congregation in 1974. In 1977, the English Congregation recommended dissolving, leading to the official renaming of Pacific Grace Mission Chapel as Pacific Grace Chinese Church in 1981, specifically to serve the ethnic Chinese population. Burnaby Pacific Grace Chinese Church was planted in 1990. In South Vancouver, an additional location for evangelism was established in 1995. The North Shore Pacific Grace MB Church was established through the continuation of the one-church two-site model. In 1998, the south site was re-named South Vancouver Pacific Grace MB Church. Our site was also renamed as Pacific Grace MB Church.
The past reveals God’s gracious blessings upon the Church. He appointed several servants to guide the church at various points in time. After Rev. Paul Li, the first pastor, who returned to the Lord, God sent Rev. Eddie Chu, Rev. Enoch Wong and Rev. David Chan to shepherd the congregation. After Rev. Chan was called to serve in Hong Kong Alliance Bible Seminary in 2007, Rev. Xavier Law served as Senior Pastor from 2011 to 2021. Following the departure of Rev. Law, Rev. David Chan returned to serve until his retirement at the end of August 2025. In May 2025, Rev. Mickey Mak responded to God’s call to assume the role of Senior Pastor.
